Go to sleep!

Go to sleep, child. Please go to sleep. You need a nap. You're rubbing your eyes. We've been up here in your nice and peaceful dark room for almost two hours now, and I'm so tired of scooping you up once your feet touch the floor and placing you back under the covers. I want to scream, I want to cry, I want to run to the car and lock the doors and drive a hundred miles away from your bedroom. But instead I sit here in silence and wait for you to climb out of bed for the fiftieth time.

Don't you know that you will feel much better after you sleep? Trust me, you'll have beautiful dreams.

Please do not cry.

Mama loves you, sweet boy.

Wait.
Silence?

Oh look! You're sleeping!

That wasn't so bad. Two hours? Piece of cake.
Now to keep the dogs quiet...
